WIZARD's Next! List

Image
Hey gang, Jason Lenzi here again, wishing you all a happy and healthy New Year (it's still ok to do that by the 14th, right?). Our pals over at WIZARD have gone and gotten us a surprise New Year's gift already, and we didn't get them anything! Not fair guys, we're embarrassed. But not too embarrassed to share the good news with the rest of you! In the latest issue (# 208) of WIZARD, (THE pop culture bible, fans), they've put the Dude and Walter on their super cool NEXT! list. Yep, the magazine lists our Urban Achiever Big Lebowski Wave 2 and 3 as must haves, and our boys are rubbing shoulders with some of the coolest cats in the zeitgeist: DC Heroes, Marvel Heroes, and half nekkid girls like Sinful Suzi. And why not? According to the WIZARD gang, the Dude and Walter "could see no better interpretation than these exaggerated figures". Had we said that ourselves, we would've seemed big headed, so thanks WIZARD! So get out and buy the new issue of WIZARD...

Where's Jesus? Where's the Supporting Cast?

Everyone is raving about Series 2 of The Big Lebowski action figures, and for good reason. The dynamic duo of The Dude and Walter sport new accessories, paint and clothing. And just WAIT until we show you what's coming for San Diego Comic-Con. But everyone is still wondering - where are the other characters from the coolest movie of the 90s? Where is Jesus? Where is Donny? Let's put the rumors to rest once and for all. Donny (Steve Buscemi) IS coming in Series 3 late this Fall. The Stranger (Sam Elliott) IS coming in Series 3 late this Fall. Jesus (John Turturro)- is still in the works. Even though we have the license to produce action figures from the film, we still need (through Universal Studios) to get permission from each actor. Ok, it's a little more complicated than that - but believe us, we hear you, and we're trying - 'cause we're big fans too!

"We'd like to thank the Academy....."

Well, if this isn't the best way to kick off 2008! The toy fanatics over at the much loved 'Michael Crawford's Review of the Week' have just posted the results of their 2007 Poppies- the awards ceremony like no other. A board of nearly 100 folks from the world of toys (both in front of and behind the scenes) have voted in several different categories the toys and figures they thought were the best of the year. And we here at Bif Bang Pow! are incredibly proud to say we made the list! Not only did we make in into the voting, we took a prize: in the Category of Best Vinyl/Designer Figure, Walter from our 'Big Lebowski' line tied for second place! Don't believe me? Check it out for yourself. Between you and me, I think this beats the great 'Ordinary People' over 'Raging Bull' debate of the '81 Oscars, and is infinitely more significant than the labeling of Radiohead as 'Alternative' at the Grammys several years back. Being the new ...

Lebowski takes Manhattan

Lenzi here again, with a bit more info for the masses. Now I don't want this blog to turn into 'Stan's Soapbox' or anything, but there's a little bit of Lebowski Buzz that's occured recently that we here at BBP have been too modest to mention. But gosh darnit, I think it's so flippin' cool that I can't contain myself any longer. In addition to the numerous websites, action figure magazines and comic publications that have been spreading the gospel of Bif Bang Pow! and it's two fantastic first properties in recent months, there's one notable publication that has put us on a map of a different kind. In the May 14th issue of New York Magazine, The Big Lebowski action figures made it onto their Approval Matrix, in the LOWBROW: BRILLIANT section, natch. And we here at BBP are bursting with pride. The Dude making it into the same category as the Sandman, Elliot Smith and 'Heroes'? I'd say, without hesitation, that we've definitely a...
